About a month or so ago I wrote about how to leverage your existing status in order to get status with another hotel or airline.  Today I am bringing you an easy status match.

Right now Best Western is marketing their “No Catch Status Match” which is great as there are a lot of chains that require the completion a Status Challenge in order to “earn” their status.  This typically means a certain number of stays within a set period of time (e.g 3 stays within the next 90 days).  Best Western is allowing you to outright match status with no challenge.

This is especially great for those that have achieved status with something as simple as a credit card application.

All you need to do is fill out Best Western’s Status Match Form (I’ve updated the form so it’s fillable) and send it in to [email protected].  You will also need to provide a screenshot of your account page from the program you have status with.

I have completed the Status Match and it took all of 30 minutes for it to be completed by the team at Best Western.

Benefits

Honestly, the benefits of having status with Best Western are not all that exciting.  In fact, I do not believe you get breakfast included (though that might be standard at Best Westerns anyways).  From the Platinum level up, you qualify for a room upgrade but they specifically state:

Specialty rooms or suites may not qualify for room upgrades.

Based on that, I don’t have high expectations for the status and quite honestly, it’s unlikely that I would stay at a Best Western but you never know when it might come in handy.  I will say that I have heard from multiple sources that Best Westerns in Europe are surprisingly good but the Best Westerns I grew up knowing are just a step up from a Motel Village.

At the very least, you might be able to leverage this status into another status down the road and because it’s free and easy, it’s worth your 2 minutes.  I personally used my Hilton HHonors Diamond Status to match to Best Western and I was provided with the Best Western Diamond Status.  For a full overview of the different Best Western statuses, refer to their official page here.
